Privacy Policy
The English language Proud2Bme is located at www.proud2bme.org and is hosted by The National Eating Disorders Association, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by eating disorders. Your privacy is important to us--we’re committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and disclose personal information from people who visit www.proud2bme.org. It does not describe our practices with respect to information we might collect in other forums, including on other National Eating Disorders Association Web sites, offline, or through other means. It does not describe the practices of www.proud2bme.nl, a related teen Web site owned and operated by Stichting Rivierduinen, a foundation in the Netherlands.
What information we collect
You can browse content on Proud2Bme.org without revealing any personal information. If you become a member of Proud2Bme, you will be required to submit your email address, provide your birth date, choose a username that is not your real name, and select a password. Your birth date and email address will not appear on the site. You will be identified only by your username.
If you participate in a survey on Proud2Bme, we may ask you for certain information such as your age, gender, race, ethnicity, grade in school, and your opinions of the website. These surveys will be voluntary and anonymous. They will not be linked to any personal information.
Non-personal information and data may be automatically collected by on Proud2Bme through the use of "cookies." "Cookies" are files a Web site can use to track, on a non-personally identifiable basis, repeat visitors, facilitate the visitor's access to and use of the site, and allow a site to analyze how visitors are using the site in order to make improvements to the content. By agreeing to this Privacy Policy, you are consenting to our use of Cookies. What we do with your information
We will use members’ email addresses to respond to requests and to send updates about new content on the site and special events organized by the National Eating Disorders Association. We may also directly communicate with members by email if their forum posts or blog comments are in violation of the Proud2Bme Community Guidelines. Information collected at Proud2Bme will be stored as long as the National Eating Disorders Association deems reasonably necessary and practicable for the purposes of Proud2Bme, or to otherwise meet legal requirements.
Your personal information will only be accessible to authorized National Eating Disorders Association staff, consultants, and professional advisors, all of whom are bound by this Privacy Policy. You acknowledge, consent, and agree that to the extent legally permissible in each applicable jurisdiction we may access, preserve, and/or disclose the information we collect (including personal information) to a law enforcement agency or another third party if required to do so by law or if we determine access, preservation or disclosure is reasonably necessary to: (a) comply with legal process; (b) enforce the Proud2Bme Community Guidelines; (c) respond to claims that any content violates the rights of third parties; or (d) protect the safety, rights, or property of our visitors (including you) or others.
Accessing & correcting information
You have the right to access, update, request removal of, and correct factual inaccuracies in personally identifiable information that we collect at Proud2Bme, subject to the provisions in the preceding Section. To do so, you should log into your member account or you may e-mail us at info@proud2bme.org. To protect your privacy and the security of your personally identifiable information, we will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting access, updating, correcting or removing your personally identifiable information.
Children’s Privacy
If you are under 13 years of age, you are not allowed to become a member of Proud2Bme. We never knowingly collect personal information from persons under the age of 13. If we learn that we have any information or content from anyone under the age of 13, we will delete that information immediately.
Community Features
As a Proud2Bme member, you may choose to participate in our forums and chats or post comments to blog posts and articles. Any information that is posted or otherwise disclosed in these areas becomes public information. Posting personal information, including but not limited to your name, address, phone number, school or place of work, is a violation of the Proud2Bme Community Guidelines. You post such personal information at your own risk. Proud2Bme forums, chats and comments are moderated, but we cannot and do not guarantee that personal information that you post on Proud2Bme will be deleted or will not be publicly viewable.
Security
We take security seriously and we will take reasonable steps to ensure the safety of your personal information. However, there is no such thing as a Web site that is 100% secure. The National Eating Disorders Association cannot, and does not, guarantee that unauthorized access, hacking, data loss, disclosure, misuse, modification or any other breaches will not occur.
Links to Outside Sites
Proud2Bme contains links to other Web sites and services that are not maintained by The National Eating Disorders Association. These sites have their own privacy policies and/or data collection practices which may be substantially different from ours. We encourage you to review them carefully. We take no responsibility for linked sites.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
From time to time we may decide, or be required by law, to make changes to this Privacy Policy. If we make any material changes to this policy that may impact how we use personal information we have already obtained, we will update this Privacy Policy by posting a revised Privacy Policy, and, as necessary, notify you as required by law. You are encouraged to return to this page periodically to check for updates.

We make no representation that Proud2Bme is operated in accordance with the laws or regulations of, or governed by, other nations. By participating in Proud2Bme, you certify that you meet the age and other eligibility requirements for Proud2Bme.
